a has the sound of the English a , as in father
b has the same sound as in English
c has the sound of the English ch , as in chin
§ is an emphatic c. It is formed by pronouncing c with a strong pressure of the organs by a sudden expulsion of breath
d has the same sound as in English
e has the sound of the English e , as in they or, the English a , as in face
g has the sound of the English g (hard), as in go
± represents a deep sonant guttural resembling the Arabic ghain
h has the same sound as in English
® represents a strong surd guttural resembling the Arabic kha
i has the sound of the English i , as in marine, or e , as in me
j is an aspirated z having the sound of the French j , or the English s , as in pleasure and is sometimes written «
k has the same sound as in English.
¥ is an emphatic letter, bearing the same relation to k that § does to c.
m has the same sound as in English
n has the same sound as in English
³ has a nasal sound similar to the French n , as in bon , or the English n , as in drink
o has the sound of the English o , as in go or note
p has the sound of the English p with a little more volume and stress of the voice
¡ is an emphatic, bearing the same relation to p that § does to c
s has the surd sound of English s , as in say
© is an aspirated s, having the sound of the English sh , as in shine
t has the same sound as in English with a little more volume of voice
£ is an emphatic, bearing the same relation to t that § does to c
u has the sound of the English u , as in rule, or oo , as in food
w has the sound of the English w , as in walk
y has the sound of the English y , as in yet
z has the sound of the English z , as in zebra
